WELCOME TO THE CABIN PORĄBKA
Welcome to Cabin Porabka! Explore our beautifully renovated cabin, originally built more than 150 years ago. We stumbled upon the cabin whilst exploring the amazing un spoilt forests and mountain ranges of Beskid Mały. We have dedicated the last 18 months to realizing our vision for the cabin while honoring its rich history, utilizing traditional techniques, local and specialist craftsman, seamlessly blending the old with the new while maintaining the original structure. Our aim was to uplift this space, allowing the cabin to enjoy another 150 years and more, while respecting the heritage of the house, the land, its previous owners, and the enchanting landscape that surrounds it.
From what knowledge we have gleaned, the forest land was gifted by a local prince to three of his woodsmen in exchange for their stewardship of the forest. The cabin started as a single room, built by hand, slowly growing with the family, eventually transforming into the charming 200m2 space you see today.
Around 1980, only one lady remained in the house. A Polish-Danish couple from a nearby village discovered it while hunting, fell in love with it, and sought to buy it from her. She initially refused until she learned that the Polish lady's father had supplied her with bread during World War II. This connection led her to agree to sell the house to them alone...
And believe us, there’s so much more to this story! We promise you, the magic of this place lies not only in its beauty but also in its rich history, breathtaking position and peaceful surroundings.
